I'm Back!

I missed blogging! I have been involved in many projects, in many directions But, I have missed posting and reading your posts~ Additionally and thankfully, my Interior Design business has busy!

Making recycled jewelry has been a wonderful pastime.
I love making necklaces the most.
Getting lost in putting together the parts of the pendant is wonderful pastime!

The Brayton Homestead is still a most magical place to live!
Our sitting room, my favorite place for sipping tea...

and gardening can always transport you to a happy place!
Hoping you have all been well!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Can you see me, Krumpet with all the gifts?

Mom has been wrapping all day and she is still not done! New gifts
nestle with old toys she collects...

I think I am waiting quite patiently. Blue paper for one nephew, pink for a niece. I got a new toy too!
Our tree has ornaments old and new, mostly old. Many handmade treasure from Doyle over the years.
An old fashion tree with a jumble of colors and materials works best in our living room, well that's what I was told.

Glad you could visit us, I think I am going to get another treat now,
so bye and Merry Christmas.

You should visit these great blog parties too.

Homestead Dress Up

It has been raining for days and will continue all weekend!
( This picture was featured on Common Ground Blog!)

Therefore, I did not dress up the homestead with the usual flags and banners...

Instead I am posting some of my favorite holidays pics of the
BRAYTON HOMESTEAD

Still loving my red gate, added to the 1796 home a few years ago...

Cannot wait to get the lawn furniture out
for lazy days of tea or wine,
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend...

I am so grateful and flattered to be features at the beautiful blog

Red Roses equals Paris Chic

Red Roses for this lady. My own personal favorite color combination mixes tawny pinks, pinkish tans, claret and burgundy contrasted by rich black tones.

My bedroom best highlights this Victorian influenced color ensemble. Think faded burgundy oriental carpets, dried pink roses edged with tea stain browns, and the soft peach of a cherubim face...

Old roses painted on old fabric and perfectly dried blossoms say natural elegance...

and create a style I call "Paris Flea Market meets Shabby Chic".

another bedroom view, just begging for all these fabulous lampshades.

These eye candy shades are lovelies that I hope to recreate for my decorating clients and my Brayton Cottage shop..

HAPPY INSPIRATION TO YOU TOO!

St Nick

St. Nicholas Day is special at the homestead

St. Nicholas Day is special at the homestead
in the authentic tradition,  wooden shoes are put out for St. Nicholas, not stockings
* " He had a reputation for secret gift giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him, and thus became the model for Santa Claus, whose modern name comes from the Dutch Sinterklaus, itself a series of elisions and corruptions of the transliteration of Santa Nikolaus"
ours are filled with nuts, yarn and other goodies...

All to enjoy while working in the study/ office. The homestead, circa 1796, is so easy to decorate for the holidays, especially in a country cottage almost French country style-
Merry Christmas!

POLKA DOTS: VERSATILE WONDERS!

I |  just  | love |  polka | dots |

Do You?

When decorating, polka dots coordinate nicely with stripes and solids.
I like to mix them with plaids and tapestries too but a bit more thought is needed to make it work.

polka dots can be nostalgic or whimsical...

handmade or vintage...

I especially love red and white polka dots!

the color combination is perfect.
Can be seen in decorating, fashion and nature. Polka dots can be classic,
or modern. Try them in your next project.

Have a wonderful week!
