Homestead Living Barn Chick Style

Here at the Brayton Homestead, summer is easy living, country style. Simple decorating with splashes of red is all that is needed.

Dining outside this summer has been most enjoyable. Typically, I am not a "let's eat out on the patio" in the heat kind of girl.

sorry to disappoint my fellow Barn Chick girls. I would love to have the original barn to my 214 year old house but it is long been torn down by previous owners.

So I take pics of other wonderful barns instead. Remember to join in on the next BARN CHICK meeting on September 3rd all day! All about apples and barns, recipes, pics, etc.! Come link in your barn post here.

Krumpet has been indulging in alfresco dining as well at our fav coffee shop.

Revel in every last minute of the summer weather and thanks for the visit...

quilted chair?

Turning one of my upstairs bedrooms into a fun sewing room. A great room with lots of sun. Planning to keep the kaleidoscope of quirky colors and objects but in a slightly more orderly way. Vintage paint by number painting by my Dad, a childhood autographed penguin and a Little Red Rabbit book are treasures from my youth. A barkcloth covered folding screen and metal mannequin will join the mix and more...

Would really love to purchase this
retro looking crazy quilt chair
for my sewing room!
Too crazy?

homestead roses...

Blush Pink Roses for the sitting room or Crimson for the Library? Which shall I choose to bring inside? Small in size, yet big in impact, a cutting garden is such a treat at my homestead...
Hope you are having a lovely week....

Do you love being a Barn Chick?

I do...

My favorite barn of all!

the combination of wood and stone
is so elegant!

having fun?

Victorian barns have this odd mix
of rugged rural appeal
and high style architectural features...

a gorgeous window shape

and an unexpected yellow side door

that any barn Chick would love to enter

for a Barn Chick party
