Layering items on my Bookshelves

I love bookshelves and I love books! Here in my living room I have a set of shelves in oak, live the barrister bookcases. I had only books on the shelves. It seemed boring to me so I stated to layer items. First I added the basket on a few books laying down then added my vintage basket.

Why not add some of my favorite items in front as well? My collection of velvet Victorian what nots where tucked away and deserved to be shown. They fit perfectly in front of the books and had room for a few paperweights. As most of the subjects of these books are England. London and royals the Victorian era velvets remind me of Doyle's Sherlock Homes books. Watson, I need the perfect magnifying glass to finish the display.

Thanks for visiting the Homestead,
Karen

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Can you see me, Krumpet with all the gifts?

Mom has been wrapping all day and she is still not done! New gifts
nestle with old toys she collects...

I think I am waiting quite patiently. Blue paper for one nephew, pink for a niece. I got a new toy too!
Our tree has ornaments old and new, mostly old. Many handmade treasure from Doyle over the years.
An old fashion tree with a jumble of colors and materials works best in our living room, well that's what I was told.

Glad you could visit us, I think I am going to get another treat now,
so bye and Merry Christmas.

You should visit these great blog parties too.

My Spring Homestead Table

My Spring brunch table, tea with a nest? My Mom and Dad's 25th anniversary coffee pot, now an antique is one of my favorite possession.

Bead springs make perfect egg holders, no the eggs are decorative only, but I guess your could polyurethane them. Um, my next project! Piled up vintage linens and burlap jumbled  are nest like too...

Raffia and lace everywhere!

Rustic and elegant materials just belong together!
Enjoy,
Karen
