Easter Wishes

Many Wishes for you and your families this Easter weekend. I took this picture in a restaurant while traveling on business. It was the end of a hallway. It seemed cheerful and exuberant; it reflected the renewal of spring's landscapes and this holiday weekend.
Enjoy and give thanks...

Angelina in Paris

Missing Paris.
Strolling along the streets of Paris, it draws you in.

The awning the color of rich chocolate, the diamond shaped insignia in the marbled tile entrance way announces "ANGELINA".

A peak in the window provides a glimpse of the glorious cafe' and chocolate shop. Could you have resisted? The food, the aromas and the decor did not disappoint. Enjoy the view from my gold gilded chocolate brown leather chair...

Nature Imitated

Faux bois is an old paint technique where wood grain is imitated on a variety of surfaces, in these examples plaster and metal. I am crazy for Faux Bois! This lovely coat/ hat rack presents faux bois in metal. Imitated wood grain of the tree as the birds resting spot is perfect for spring.

Wood Grain on a plaster tree log is a playful twist on nature. This is the work by the awesome artists, somethings hiding in here on Etsy! You must check out there great shop, so original and playful. Two or three of these logs placed in a contemporary fireplace would look sensational.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday! I trust everyone had a great weekend! Mine was jam backed and wonderful. Listened to live music with friend Giselle (I'm on left with scarf), gabbed with Mom for hours, hung out at the coffee shop, walked Krumpet and accomplished some client work. Also, displayed a few more vintage treasures on a high shelf in the pantry- but kept it simple!

Simple holiday decor

Only one week to Easter, thought I would finally display a few of my vintage decorations. Always nice to be surrounded by nostalgic holiday keepsakes. This year I am going to keep it simple~ or at least that is how it will start out. Besides, if it is new to a room, Krumpet decides it must be a new toy for him! Decorated, natural or vintage eggs in a wooden bowl are a lovely way to decorate…

Sunroom retreat

I want to hide away in this gorgeous sun room. It has all the comforts of home and more! Imagine the overhead glow of chandeliers and the moonlight? A comfy chair, fresh fruit, beautiful flowers and a cup of tea, OK, maybe it would be Merlot. Enjoy the view......

Memories of Paris Carousel

Closing my eyes and remembering taking this picture of the lovely carousel in Paris! It was so enchanting, oh wait,
I can hear the music too!. Enjoy....
p.s. this was taken outside of the Hotel de Ville, "city hall " on Rue de Rivoli. There was a majestic ceremony of men in uniforms on horseback in the background of the carousel.

Spring, finally......

HAPPY HAPPY SPRING!!
Go outside and play in the dirt!! Start thinking about your outside rooms! Love the work of Freida Maria. Many years ago my sister brought a pencil outline of my foot to Holland and returned with a custom made pair of wood clogs for me. My sister is the most wonderful person. I still have the clogs; they are more comfortable than you would think. But, they are wood!
More decorating tips tomorrow....

Pare down

A fresh spring look can be obtained by paring down your rooms. OK, this pic may be extreme, but isn't it inviting? An old rule is to go around your house and remove three things, you will see and feel the difference. Recognize earlier tip of adding greenery? A gorgeous chaise lounge never hurts either!
Thanks for checking my design tips ~ more to come....

Quintessential Spring!

Happy Monday!
Thank you for stopping by for the Tip of the day.
Could there be anything more spring-like than flowers? Placing flowers in a room brings in nature and breathes life! Try placing them in unexpected containers like pitchers or tureens other than vases. Consider displaying your arrangement in your kitchen and bedrooms not just on the dining room table.
Come back soon for more decorating tips. Leave a comment to let me know you are enjoying my blog. Thanks…

Lighten up

I am not suggesting that you rip up your wall to wall but you can layer a small sisal carpet over your existing carpet and under a coffee table~ otherwise it will creep around. I sometimes take away my carpet and leave the floor bare, although this look is not for everyone.
Come back soon for another decorating tip. Thank you and enjoy!

Paper Mache Rabbit

I just finished making this adorable rabbit and listed it on my Etsy shop- vintagedchic- SOLD-
She is a cute paper mache bunny jar. The rabbit is first made by molding the paper mache to the new jar a little bit at a time. Then painted and aged, a 5 step process. I just love her~ Shown filled with jewelry next to one of my handmade heart sachets on etsy.
Enjoy!
