Hi,  I am excited to tell you that my Brayton Homestead Collection of clothing I designed was featured in another fashion show! The setting was perfect for my military style presentation at the famous FORT ADAMS in Newport, Rhode Island. I am just back for vacation (after the show) so I will post more photographs later.
thanks for visiting the homestead,

I am Remaking skirts 70's style

Creating recycled skirts to sell on Etsy and reliving my college days? Does anyone remember cutting off the bottom of the legs to worn out jeans and making a skirt?

I like to find gently worn or new skirts and recreate them into something unique..Some are new, never worn  like this Ann Taylor corduroy that I added a tartan plaid pocket and hand dyed doily accent with lace around the pleat.

This simple but flattering knit skirt just wanted coral lace around the bottom and bow made from the same lace...

Here I made the elastic waist skirt myself and added a signature pop art flower that reminded me of Andy Warhol. Love to know what you think of my designs and suggestions you have,
thanks for looking...

Classic British Black & Tan

Tans and black, so classic, to me an all season color combination. It reminds me of Burberry plaid, which I do adore.

Anything English makes me think about my constant companion , my Yorkshire terrier,
KRUMPET

Always British, the classic detective Sherlock Holmes. Of course, I visited this pub when I visited London.
With the last name of Doyle, could I not? Have I mentioned that my Dad was a  real detective?

Checks on floors, checks on walls,

compliment black tones in my office. The egg shaped wood box originally held to hold tea.

Kitchen Fall design at the homestead includes whites, golds, tan and yes black.

Acorns are dropping in the neighborhood, my trees are about to drop chestnuts

Really feeling like Fall now,
enjoy,
Karen

PHOTO SHOOT AT THE HOMESTEAD: VINTAGE FASHION

Thanks for visiting | my fashion shoot | at the homestead!

We had a Fall Fashion shoot at the Brayton Homestead.

The beautiful model, Emily, presented the clothes perfectly.  A young girl with an incredible range in her  modeling: a talent with a very bright future. What a pleasure to photograph her. Clothing is available on my vintagedchic store.

Shown wearing a very old black dress, not hemmed to accommodate the person who purchases it. Keep in mind with her boots she must be 6'.  Hope you enjoyed this part of the Fashion photo shoot at the Homestead. Please take a visit to  vintagedchic and come back for great vintage jackets available next...

POLKA DOTS: VERSATILE WONDERS!

I |  just  | love |  polka | dots |

Do You?

When decorating, polka dots coordinate nicely with stripes and solids.
I like to mix them with plaids and tapestries too but a bit more thought is needed to make it work.

polka dots can be nostalgic or whimsical...

handmade or vintage...

I especially love red and white polka dots!

the color combination is perfect.
Can be seen in decorating, fashion and nature. Polka dots can be classic,
or modern. Try them in your next project.

Have a wonderful week!

Paris Ruffles

Can one not dream of Paris under a bevy of pink ruffles?

I frequently envision a return trip to Paris,
including what clothes I will be dressed in…

Views of the city nestled under one’s head
Certainly leads to thoughts of travel during slumber…

Imagining attending a fashion show
in the fashion capitol of the world...

I think Krumpet might even be dreaming of Paris

Are You?
