Nature’s Slumber

Lay your head down on the soft down pillow, look up through the trees and peak at the bird’s’ nest. No, you are not camping. The ultimate in Faux Bois, an old technique of creating wood grain in different mediums, is this incredible bed by Shawn Lovell! As if you are laying under the stars, the frame of metal tree trunks with high reaching limbs come together at the top like a canopy, punctuated by a bird’s nets at the very top. Oh, sweet dreams….

Nature Imitated

Faux bois is an old paint technique where wood grain is imitated on a variety of surfaces, in these examples plaster and metal. I am crazy for Faux Bois! This lovely coat/ hat rack presents faux bois in metal. Imitated wood grain of the tree as the birds resting spot is perfect for spring.

Wood Grain on a plaster tree log is a playful twist on nature. This is the work by the awesome artists, somethings hiding in here on Etsy! You must check out there great shop, so original and playful. Two or three of these logs placed in a contemporary fireplace would look sensational.

Cozy Retreat

Retreat to this cozy room and let your troubles escape you! Let the wood beams envelop you and raise your feet on the yummy chenille ottoman. No worries, the slipcover can be removed and laundered. The repetition of brown and white on the striped round carpet and in the contrast of walls and beams create a casual atmosphere, while the blue French chairs add a formal sophistication. Perfect for another rainy April day. Enjoy!

Scanning Somerset

Took a close look at my town through the eyes of the camera and was pleasantly surprised. I present my collage of Somerset, Massachusetts.

Ended a wonderful day with a gallery opening with my friend Lisa, great time!
Earlier, stopped at yard sales, the flea market and picture taking ~ in and out of the car~ but for the last stop Krumpet was tired so I kept him in the car right near me. Last shot taken, got into the car, camera still on, he looked at me with this face—I kid you not!!!!!!!
